After breakfast, our driver will
pick you up for a day of sight seeing of the Stone Forest.
Drive back to Kunming in the afternoon and take flight
Forest: Situated in Lunan County, it is an area
of typical karst landform with numerous groups of strange
gray-black stone peaks and stone pillars. The Stone
Forest covers an area of 400 square kilometers, is about
85 kilometers away from Kunming and requires 1.5 hours'

Visit the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain,
the Baisha Murals, the Ancient Shuhe Village of Naxi people.
In the afternoon, explore Lijiang Ancient Town - Dayan.
Dragon Snow Mountain: The mountain is located 15
kilometers north of Lijiang, it has 13 peaks, stretching
35 kilometers from north to south. Shanzidou, the main
peak, is 5,596 meters above sea level. Access to the
mountain is provided by a cable lift to Yunshanping
Meadow, halfway to the glacier peak. Every season, different
kinds of flowers bloom and almost throughout the entire
year visitors can see flowers in bloom.
Baisha Murals: Lijiang's murals are works of the
Ming Dynasty, chiefly created from the Hongwu to the
Wanli eras. They were originally distributed among the
Juexiansi Temple and twelve others, nine of which fell
to ruins. The remaining four temples have altogether
55 murals, with a total area of 139.22 sq. m.
people: Naxi literature is rich in form and content.
Besides works by Naxi scholars and writers, there is
a repository of oral folk literature.
Ancient Town: As one of UNESCO's World Heritage
sites in China, Lijiang Ancient Town has attracted many
tourists from home and abroad. Different with other
old towns, it has no city wall. Lijiang features with
cobbled streets, crisscrossing canals flowing with water,
swaying willow trees and gaily-hued blossoms and many
buildings and structures are in styles of Ming and Qing
dynasties. The people here are mainly from the Naxi
ethnic group and you can still see many older women
dressed in their traditional attire. They have an obvious
passion for flowers, as almost every courtyard is a

Hills: The forest reserve on the west bank of the
Lake consists of the Huating and Taihan mountains.
This is a colossal natural forest reserve in the midst
of a lofty mountain range crisscrossed by babbling brooks
and gurgling streams. Ancient trees are adorned with
thick, lush foliage and birds chirp and flutter in the
green treetops. Near the top of the mountain, is the
Dragon Gate. Hacked from the cliff between 1781 and
1835 by a Taoist monk and co-workers, the Dragon Gate
is a group of grottoes, sculptures, corridors and pavilions.
Temple: Originally built during the Ming Dynasty
(1368-1644), the hall of the famous Taoist temple is
made of copper, weighing about 280 tons. All the interior
settings including the gate, walls, columns, doors,
windows, Buddha statues, altars and roof tiles are made
Monastery: The first temple dedicated to Zen Buddhism
in Yunnan. It dates back to the Song Dynasty (960-1279).
The present structure mostly dates from the late Qing
Dynasty (1644-1911). The temple's most outstanding artistic
feature is the statues of the life-sized clay figures
of 500 Arhats.
