1 Day Kunming Tour To Bamboo Monastery,
Dianchi Lake And Dragon Gate In Western Hills
Tour Code: KM_03
Our guide meet you from your hotel.
Tour to the Bamboo Monastery and the Daguan (Grand View)
Park. After lunch, visit Dianchi Lake and Dragon Gate
in Western Hills.
Monastery: The first temple dedicated to Zen Buddhism in Yunnan. It dates back to the Song Dynasty (960-1279). The present structure mostly dates from the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). The temple's most outstanding artistic feature is the statues of the life-sized clay figures of 500 Arhats.
Park: Located 7 kilometers west of Kunming, is known
for its longest antithetical couplet in China. First
built in 1682 by a monk, the park once served as a Guanyin
(Avalokistesvara's) Temple. In 1690, large-scale construction
was carried out with flowers, trees, ponds, causeways,
pavilions and halls added to it.
Hills: The forest reserve on the west bank of the
Lake consists of the Huating and Taihan mountains.
This is a colossal natural forest reserve in the midst
of a lofty mountain range crisscrossed by babbling brooks
and gurgling streams. Ancient trees are adorned with
thick, lush foliage and birds chirp and flutter in the
green treetops. Near the top of the mountain, is the
Dragon Gate. Hacked from the cliff between 1781 and
1835 by a Taoist monk and co-workers, the Dragon Gate
is a group of grottoes, sculptures, corridors and pavilions.
